It's probably been said a million times but spirits are crazy. I had one make an airball event like 3 times, burn through a crucifix, turn off the breaker and interact with like 3 doors, ... I once did a hunt threshold sanity check to see if a ghost was a Spirit or a Shade. My sanity was above 35, but below 50.

I had a mist event happen in the hallway on the second floor, and the mist instead went up the spiral stairs to the attic and then fizzled out without hitting anyone. We were standing at the top of the steps from the first floor, right at that bathroom, and when the light flicked off next to me I looked for the ghost event and watched the airball.
