Ark survival ascended tether distance fix.
Just most people today wouldn't notice it because most people's PCs are more than able to handle ARK SE with Tether Distance set to say 99 without too many issues. The Host's Computer has to keep track of everything the "OTHER" Players are encountering rather than those objects going into a deep sleep like they do on normal singleplayer.
Tether Distance. Did anyone notice that the tether distance option disappeared? Started a non-dedicated with my friends and soon figured out that the tether distance was low. I went into the settings looking for it and could not find it. This gives quite a bit of range but might still get in the way for larger maps like Ragnarok. If you go any higher it starts screwing with swim speeds for some reason lol. Fix NON-DEDICATED Tether Distance. Even after adjusting Tether Distance in settings before playing, if there is more than 2 players in an non-dedicated server you cant be more than 180 meters without teleporting to each other. If enough people are unhappy change may happen. More than likely ASA takes more resources than the old version. Get a super computer and you can then max out the tether distance, or just run a dedicated server as the game is designed to be run and it will work for you. I've been playing this game for a few years with my daughter. Just got ascended. We hate the tether, it ruins your game. When a player is hosting and playing on the same system there is a tether distance that keeps player 2 near the host to help the system render everything efficiently without trying to do the whole map at once. The name thing I think is just a setting that needs turned on in the pause menu. "Toggle floating player names" or gamertag.
Tried this fix today. Basically Install Nvidia driver 537.58 and replace DLS with version 1.0.7. I also used DDU before installing the new driver. Played for 4 hours, no crashes.
