Oct 10, 2009 · Oct 9, 2009. #1. Installed 8n electronic ignition conversion in front mount distrubutor. Kit was listed for my tractor by ser# and year. My sustem is all original 6v. New electronic ignition is specified for 6volt system. After installing tractor would crank over but not start. (using internal 6v battery like always).

If I leave the key on & the points are closed, I melt the points & probably the coil. That’s a $40 mistake. If you leave the key on w/ EI, that’s a $150 mistake. Cost. I can replace a lot of points for the cost of EI.
