I purchased a brand new starter { pulley starter} from a Mercury dealer who now carry parts for the Gamefisher. The motor will not crank from the pulley starter. Its so tight that it has broken off two ropes.

The 9.9 are most expensive because a lot of lakes have a less than 10 HP restriction. As far as parts: New ones may be difficult to find but there is a thriving market in used. 15 hp Gamefisher . I still have a Gamefisher/Tanaka 3HP and it's a good little motor. Thanks for the reply!! The motor model # is 225 581500 (15hp) The prop that's on there now model # is tough to read but I think it's 072025. The motor is on a 14' Gamefisher Aluminum boat. We usually carry 2 avg sized poeple and fishing equipment. (Battery, Minn Kota trolling mtr, gas tank...) It turned out to be a shift linkage problem. The linkage connection bolt wasn't tight so when I would shift in forward it would slip. Same with reverse, and that's why It would either freeze in forward, or neutral and wouldn't shift out of it.
