Better penetration, better expansion, easier to handle recoil, etc. 147gr 9mm is subsonic so it's less flippy and less noisy than a +P round, as well as more reliable expansion since the bullet is a bit heavier and isn't travelling ridiculously fast. This is best for guns with shorter barrels (ie conceal carry) vs the 147 grain standard pressure load. Either brand. I think Gold Dot tends to penetrate further and HSTs tend to get slightly larger expansion. I carry 124 grain HST, but honestly gold dots will work just as well.
