You can turn off vdc, but the ecu and abs will still intervene with throttle control and reduced power. If I hit the rear diff switch the REAR DIFF light goes out and then ABS and SLIP come on. I can hear the 4wd engage both high and low when I turn it on with my door open.Turn off the engine. Restart the engine and pull straight ahead in drive. Light should go off in a couple of hundred feet. This tutorial is based on the Nissan owner’s manual. They turned them off in under 5 minutes, it was free and i didn't have to wait. they did it right away. If wheel slip actually occurred, the light should extinguish on its own. The VDC OFF light should illuminate if you turn it off, or place it in 4LO.

When engine speed signal isn’t sent over CAN, the ABS control module will set a DTC and the VDC light will illuminate. I don’t believe the ABS light will. The most common (by far) cause of a missing engine speed signal is a failed camshaft position sensor. You can get odd combinations of warning lights with this failure.

Of course, it's due for the yearly inspection this month and I'm not sure it will pass in Texas with those four lights on.

The result was a bad crank position sensor!! It's a $25 part and was replaced within 1.5 hours!! No more stalling or lights on my dash!
