Suggest while you have the EGR out just replace the EGR Solenoid (motor). Even after cleaning the EGR I was still getting the P0402 code.

JACOBANDNICKOLAS. The code indicates a slow response decreasing flow. Often times this isn't related to the EGR but instead the MAF sensor (mass air flow). Also, a restriction in the air inlet tubes can be an issue as well. Remove the MAF sensor (see pic 1 below) and inspect it for dirt.
