Inferium Essence can be obtained by destroying crops with a Hoe of Destruction. The higher the tier of the crop, the more Inferium Essence you'll get. Other than that they grow rather slowly. If you have tiny progressions in your pack, growth crystals should speed up growth quite well. Try it for longer, those crops take a while to grow if not sped up.
