Feb 24, 2015 · 5.7. Problems with Shifter button - 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Black Express 2WD. I bought this truck brand new in 2014. First 4000 miles, first issue with the truck. I was driving, I got to a light, and the truck automatically went to parking. I did not pay that much attention, put it back in drive and continued driving. Release the shift lever, remove foot from brake, re-apply the brake and it still won't shift out of park. Each time it's happened I was finally able to get it to shift but this isn't my idea of a dependable vehicle.Just because we're stuck at home doesn't mean we're completely limited to exploring new destinations. May 6, 2022 · An issue today for my wife. She could not get the shifter to move from park to reverse. Parking brake released, foot on brake… nothing. I hopped in turned key off and back on, shifter still would not move. Playing with the knob I just happened to slightly push down and the rotary shifter then moved out of park and into reverse.

If thats fine make sure your brake switch is working, if it somehow moved then it wont release the switch to release the lock.

The software fix included in a recent RECALL added the door open to prohibit starting. My problems began after that "FIx". Check with the dealer for 2 possible fixes 1. Make the brake switch more sensitive or recheck the RECALL software fix.
