The official blueprints are not public domain and outside of the FN Belgium are very rare to come across (usually at a high price). The problem with the receivers is they are simple yet require many separate steps to complete. FALs seem to predominate among their arms, but they also use a decent amount of Galils (R4 and R5), plus smaller amounts of ARs, Mini-14s, and G-3s, plus sporting rifles and shotguns, and some sort of Milkor 40mm GL. Not sure what sidearms they use. FALs are pretty diverse.

Well-known member. This by no means answers all your questions, but this is my opinion on the wood versus plastic debate. Plastic is easy to maintain and strong. Also it looks good on a battle rifle like an AR and its cheap. I have The FAL Rifle, The FN FAL Primer and The Fabled FAL. If I can't find what I'm looking for in one book, I can usually find it in one of the others. I think I paid $150.00 for The FAL Rifle. FAL standard sight radius is about 21". (it actually differs - but not enough to matter - depending on which rear sight setting you select). .006" movement of any sight (front or rear) on a FAL will move point of impact one minute of angle (1" at 100 yards, 2" at 200 yards, 10" at 1000 yards, etc.)

The best receivers are: 1. Argentine FMAP (usually marked Century Sporter and having a serial number that starts with a C and ends with 4 numbers - CXXXX) 2. Imbel (Brazil) Gear Logo (Has an engraved gear shaped logo and says Imbel) 3. Imbel May be marked sporter or some such, seen on Century built guns post 1995.

None of this turns an fal into a 1 moa gun, but it will help deliver better accuracy from consistancy. Most mechanical accuracy improvements will come in the form of a better barrel with a better crown and a better chamber. The Headspace of course will also make a difference. These are uglier but stronger than the others with regard to recoil-related splitting. If you're talking about the two-position sight, I'm not sure why they wouldn't work. The 1st Libyan contract rifles used a Type C stock with that type of rear sight.Simply coat the the outside of the adapter with non permanent Locktite™, place a fired 7.62x39 case inside the chamber and close the bolt.
