I usually keep the fan running at 35% just to keep air circulating and I never really hear anything at that speed, but when the AC kicks on and the fan ramps up to 100%, that's when is start to hear stuff. Thankfully even at 100% it's still substantially quieter than my old Lennox system so I really don't notice it.

The XL824 stat has a "CIRCULATE" feature which runs the fan at low speeds for around 30 minutes per hour. It's very effective in keeping the house at an even temperature. That's a GREAT idea. It uses less power than running the fan on full all the time but it would keep hot or cold air from pooling.
