Mercury 60 hp bigfoot problems.
I have a 2001 Mercury 60 HP Bigfoot. It is new to me. The first time out this year the motor ran great for 25 minutes and then died. It would not restart. The next morning the motor started on the first try. The tachometer was not workng and the volt meter did not go above 12 volts even at WOT. I suspect the Volt Reg/Rect.

New member. The engine ran fine a few weeks ago. Now it cranks but wont start unless i spray starting fluid into the intake. When I attempt to go full throttle, it will run fine for a few seconds and then start bogging down and/or lose power. It started doing this late last summer and I looked at it for a couple weekends and then gave up.
I have a 2012 Mercury EFI 60 hp motor that came on my Tracker 175, which I bought new. Inside of the 90-degree elbow is a check ball and these sometimes get clogged. Remove and clean or replace check ball. If you had to replace one part it would be this. It is part 881070 for about $69.00. It is located on top of the throttle body and fairly easy to replace. Otherwise, I would have to advise you to have an experienced and certified Mercury tech check over the motor with his test equipment. Kenny.

Aug 12, 2016. #5. I have been experiencing the exact same issue. Well, I just figured it out and now it steers real easy. There is a screw on the starboard side of the pivot housing. Back that screw out about 1/4 turn and see if that's it. That's a ease of steering adjustment, I guess. I hope that solves your problem.I've never seen one fail on that model in the last 15 years as a Mercury tech. Make sure you are firing on all cylinders.
