if you are building solely as an axe man, going for pacifist might be worth it. you only need axe and maintenance for combat. and the boost is covered by handyman and brawler. I can only see the positives image. I wouldn't bother with brawler, +2 axe from lumberjack is plenty (the first +1 for any skill is by far the most valuable).
