Oct 10, 2013 · Head that Steiner and others sell new is patterned after the LP head used on part of the 400 LP tractors and all LP 450 tractors. It has the smallest combustion chamber of any IH made that will work on 6 series engines. 400,450 gasoline was the next smallest after that. M through SMTA gasoline was the next smallest after that. The combine C-301 engine's head (casting number 387718 R2), had smaller combustion chambers. Along with the smaller chambers, this head had bigger intake valves. The Intake valves measured 1.78" +/- a couple thousandths with my digital calipers. The exhaust valves measured 1.51".
