Still was standing wheat pheasants weren't very visible. I talked to a few locals in Froid and Culbertson and Plentywood. All remarked about the horrible Winter and loss of Pheasants.

Quail in Mesquite are my toughest shooting ever. Pheasants in old growth in the river/creek bottoms are extremely difficult. Easiest pheasant hunt I ever had was early season birds on state ground in a park like setting. There were young trees about 15 feet high planted every 50 feet.

Feb 2, 2024 · The $24/box looked decent but that's really $30/box of 25. A bit expensive for steel. But I am curious to hear from people if the copper plating seems to do anything. You don't. Give up on straight-away pheasants further than 35 yds, especially over heavy cover. They're almost impossible to drop & recover unless you're hitting them with a very tight pattern of pretty big shot. That's 4 or 3 bismuth or 2 or 1 steel. Practice shooting.
